Laughter Might Be the Best Medicine

This is the ultimate guide to crushing breast cancer—a breast cancer memoir your best friend would write for you if she’d walked this path before you. It’s part humor, part sarcasm, and a whole helluva lot of cursing.

In 2023, I was diagnosed with Stage 1, HER+ breast cancer during a routine mammogram. After one double mastectomy, chemo, and reconstructive surgery, I'm now in remission.

This book serves as a combination of a memoir and a pep talk, providing not just insights, but also a bit of humor in cancer treatment, and a lot of screaming into the void.

I’m determined to equip you for the fight ahead because trust me, you’ll need the training montage of a lifetime. Each chapter concludes with a pep talk designed to help you keep going because we need every shred of encouragement we can muster right now.

For the gift-giver:

If you’re looking at this book right now, it’s probably because your friend, mom, wife, sister, cousin, neighbor, or coworker is facing breast cancer. You’re searching for something to help make this whole experience better. Spoiler alert: a lavender candle won’t cut it (as lovely as it is). What they really need is a handle of tequila and a whole lot of profanity. The next best thing might be this book. It doesn’t come with a shot of tequila, but it does have a generous dose of profanity and a sprinkle of humor, because laughter is crucial during treatment to prevent us from crying.

For the newly diagnosed:

Hey there. I’m sorry to welcome you to the worst club on earth filled with the bravest, most resilient members. This breast cancer memoir isn’t going to make the cancer disappear, but I hope it’ll help you feel a little less alone. Ready? Hang on to your boobs (or not); it’s going to be a bumpy ride.

Half of all proceeds benefit breast cancer charities, with 25% going to Susan G Komen and another 25% to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Free ebooks will also be provided through Twisted Pink care boxes for patients undergoing treatment.
